We used vitamin e oil...
Should you use vitamin e oil on a scar? We did, twice. The first time was a major road rash scar I got when I crashed on my bike. Ouch! I applied the oil 2-3 times a day while it was healing until it healed. Now I can't even tell which elbow it was!
The second time was on Madison's surgery scar. It didn't completely remove it
(good grief, the girl had major heart surgery-I would expect SOME kind of battle scar!)
, however, her scar is now a thin white line--much less noticeable then before. And it didn't irritate her skin at all.
The problem in using this type of oil on scars is there doesn't seem to be much evidence proving that it really works. There is a definite controversy going on between people who think it works and a study that says it doesn't.
Well, I can't argue with that.
All I can tell you is that for us, the scar remedy worked both times.
Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of my road rash (the accident happened in college some time ago), but here are before and after pictures of Madison's heart surgery scar.
