These Down syndrome children are beautiful and are children like any other...
...so we would actually say "children with Down syndrome", not Down syndrome children.
Some would ask- why be so PC? What's the big deal?
When you say "a child with Down syndrome" you are putting the child first.
When you say "a Down syndrome child" you are putting the emphasis on the disability. It becomes difficult to see the child as a person first.
Words mean things!
Try it for yourself. Say to yourself- "A black person."
Now say- "A person who happens to be black."
What changed in your thinking towards this person in our example? The person is now a person first without being labeled.
